Abstract


Since 1992, the interest for water resource value has increase a lot globally which resulted in the rapid increase in study of water resource. Especially, water resource has been emphasizing the importance of demand side management, along with supply side management of the past. To achieve this, Important thing is the awareness and the estimation of water resource value. So The purpose of this study is to evaluate willingness to pay for residential water quality improvement in Busan using Contingent Valuation Method.
This research was mainly based on double-bounded dichotomous choice questionnaire survey of 665 respondents in Busan. Willingness to pay is estimaetd to liner logit model, log logit model, non parametric approach using statistic packages(Excel, Spss, Limdep).
The computation results of presumed willingness to pay equation showed that the willingness to pay for residential water quality improvement was estimated as 3,045 won by liner logit, and 3,343 won by log logit in single bounded dichotomous choice model and 3,687 won by liner logit and 3,660 won by log logit in double bounded dichotomous choice model. Also 3,190 won was estimated by non- parametric approach.
Lastly, each estimate was multiplied by the number of 12 months and then by the number of household living in Busan and finally resulted in the aggregated willingness to pay for residential water quality improvement. The aggregated value was estimated as the yearly aemeage of 47.9 billion won by the linear logit, 52.6 billion won by the log logit in single bounded dichotomous choice and 58 billion won by liner logit and 57.6 billion won by log logit in double bounded dichotomous choice model., Also 50.2 billion won was estimated by non- parametric approach.
