부산지역 조선기자재 산업클러스터의 네트워크 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

This research examined current conditions of Busan industrial cluster of the shipbuilding and shipping-equipment industry that play the role of economic center of the Busan region and the characteristics of the industrial cluster of shipping-equipment industry, and grasps the characteristics of linking each industries of shipping-equipment from the viewpoint of networks. And based on these characteristics, this research also focused on examining the schemes to revitalize the regional economy to continue survival and growth of the shipbuilding and shipping-equipment industry. Together with this, diverse statistical analyses on the locations and current conditions of the shipbuilding and shipping-equipment industry in the Busan region were conducted, and survey by questionnaires on the firms in this field was also conducted. First, their locations and clustering and the level of synergy resulting from industrial clustering were evaluated as being in relatively favorable conditions. Second, in the clustering forms found in the investigation of the shipbuilding and shipping-equipment industry where spatial weight of physical forward and backward linkage was identified, internal linkage was strongly represented in both forward and backward linkages, and this appears to be the effect of reducing transaction cost owing to networks among production companies. Third, as for the information sources within the shipbuilding and shipping-equipment industry in the Busan region, they were found to obtain technological information from general information search methods such as transacting companies, Internet, technical books and magazines rather than from industry-university-research-institutional linkage. Fourth, as for the manpower linkage, the sea-related colleges and department are clustered in the Busan region, compared with other region, so in the supply and demand of manpower also, strong regional linkages seem to have been shown. Thus, it can be said that shipbuilding-related firms have been deeply rooted in the regional economy which is the core economic unit and maintains the regional economy in employment, production, and exports. Accordingly, the shipbuilding and shipping-equipment industry need to be approached in terms of revitalizing the regional economy in this localization age and the long-term development strategy of domestic shipbuilding industry.
