A Study on the Hydraulic Characteristics of New Type Cell Caisson
Abstract
In this study, hydraulic model experiments were carried out to investigate the hydraulic characteristics of new type cell caisson. 3 types of structures(vertical caisson, quadrangle cell caisson, new type cell caisson) were installed and overtopping, reflection coefficients, transmission coefficients measured. The main results are summarized as follows:

1) In the results of 2-dimensional hydraulic model experiments, new type cell caisson has lower overtopping rate, transmission coefficients, reflection coefficients than quadrangle cell caisson and semicircle cell caisson. In the results of new type cell caisson, overtopping rates decreased 20 to 40%, transmission coefficients decreased 10 to 30 % and reflection coefficients decreased 5 to 10 % than the results of quadrangle cell caisson and semicircle slit caisson.

2) In the results of 3-dimensional hydraulic model experiments, new type cell caisson were more efficient than vertical caisson and quadrangle cell caisson. In the results of new type cell caisson, wave increasing rates decreased 30 to 50 % and nondimensionless wave height decreased 5 to 25 % than the results of vertical caisson and quadrangle cell caisson.
