Optimal Route Estimation for Hazardous Material Transport by Adopting Environmental Aspect in the Risk Analysis Model
Abstract
Recent years importance of hazardous material transport is increasing due to industrialization and urbanization. Many studies were conducted for safe transportation and management of hazardous material because an accident of hazardous substances has high potential of tremendous damage and secondary damage such as a environmental pollution.
But earlier studies don't consider risk detailly because of using rum sum of risk value within the framework of environment. And latent environmental damages are not considered in identifying the degree of risk of the hazardous substances as well. This study, therefore set the goal of the research for estimation of the degree of risks on individual links which reflects environmental damages.
To fulfill the goal we identify following tasks : First, we improved earlier Risk Analysis Model. Newly improved Risk Analysis Model divided environmental damage into environmental treatment cost and latent environmental damage. Second, we estimated optimal route that has minimum cost by adoption of improved Risk Analysis Model in the transportation network between city of Busan and Ulsan, in Korea. For estimation of risk and optimal route, we estimated value of factor which need for risk estimation and we built GIS database and properties using Arcview 3.3 Program. And then we estimated risk and optimal route.
In conclusion, we identified the suggested Risk Analysis Model reflect the reality of environmental impact of hazardous material very well. Also, estimated optimal route will be more cost effective.
