2008 개정교육과정에 따른 초등학교 보건교육 운영에 대한 보건교사의 인식
- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to figure out the health teacher's perception about the operation of the health education which is based on the 2008 revised national curriculum and to suggest the improvement and desirable direction of the health education. For this purpose the research was carried out through the survey of Busan health teacher's association members.
The results are as follows:
First, almost every school's present condition of health education is that health classes are conducted during the discretionary activities period. In this time, 72.2 percent of homeroom teachers stay in the nurse room. And for the sake of purchasing the health education materials, 85.5 percent of schools have a budget plan and 68.8 percent of schools pay for the health education textbook. Only 15.7 percent of schools have a classroom for health classes.
Secondly, regarding the operation of health education, teachers have recorded studying one to two hours for health classes and they usually use computer and printout materials. The most used method of a teaching health class is the lecture method and 87 percent of health teachers are giving tests and the most frequent way of evaluating is through paper and pencil tests. And also teachers respond that it is hard for them to choose adequate measures of tests. And they reply 56 percent of teachers do not have teacher's training on health education.
Third, the health teacher's perception about health education is as follows. First, the teacher's idea about the goals of health education curriculum is significant different amongst teachers with different education degrees. And the propriety of contents and difficulty in the 2008 revised curriculum is also considered differently by teacher's educational background, age, and career. The survey show different response about sufficiency of materials depending on the school conditions. They said whole 17 class hours in a year is too much due to the burdens of extra jobs.
Next, in aspect of teaching difficulty, while they are teaching the class, the nurse teachers have difficulty in management of the nurse room and not having classroom set of the health text books, the ability to handle the teaching materials according to their educational background. In addition, some teachers think that the principal's comprehensive attitude for health education system is different by school conditions. And the teachers have trouble because of the low health education budget and too many extra jobs. So they explain that most important thing to solve this problem is to lessen the extra jobs responsibilities.
Through the survey we can conclude that for a more efficient and systematic operation of health education, it should be accepted as a essential subject in every grade. Second, the large scale schools need to have two nurse teachers and in all schools there needs to be a reorganization of the teacher's complex works. Moreover it is urgent that measures to care for the students who are hurt while health teachers are teaching the class. Finally, for quality improvements of the health education the principal's attitude needs to change, budget plan for health education is needed and multiple teacher's training programs will also be needed.
