성인지적 어휘 교육 방안 연구

Abstract

국어과 교육은 학습자가 개인․사회․학문적 삶에서 자신의 언어를 창의적이고, 정확하고 효과적으로 사용할 수 있도록 지도하기 위해서 국어가 성별, 인종, 계층, 연령, 지역에 따라 다양하게 변화함을 이해시킬 필요가 있다. 따라서 본고는 문학작품에 재현된 ‘남성’과 ‘여성’의 기호를 읽어내고, 그 교육적 의미와 효과를 논함으로써 어휘를 바라보는 관점을 확대하는데 그 목적을 두었다. 그리고 어휘의 품사 중 형용사를 중심으로 성인지적 어휘를 살펴보았다. 형용사는 서술적 기능과 함께 한정적 기능이 있기 때문에 실제 말뭉치 상에서도 용언에 관형사형 어미가 결합하여 체언을 수식하는 경우가 많이 나타난다. 그러므로 용언의 앞․뒤에 결합하는 체언의 성별을 살펴 그 연어 정보를 통해 성인지적 어휘를 분류하였다. 또한 성인지적 어휘들을 남성적 어휘, 여성적 어휘, 중립적 어휘로 구분하여 학습자가 비슷한 의미를 가지는 어휘들을 변별할 수 있는 지도 방안을 모색해보았다. 어휘의 의미를 정확하게 파악하고 분별하여 사용하는 것은 학습자의 언어사용과 깊은 연관이 있으며, 보다 창의적이고 비판적인 사고력을 갖게 한다. 국어 교수 학습 전반에 유의어 학습이 이루어진다면 새로운 어휘를 보다 쉽게 이해하고 분석할 수 있는 기회가 제공되며 학습자들로 하여금 풍부하고 정확한 어휘 사용 능력이 신장 될 것이다. 본 연구는 많은 어휘들 중에서도 성인지적 어휘를 한정하고, 그것을 유의어 지도에 접목시켰다는데 의의를 둘 수 있다. 어휘 능력이 풍부하다는 것은 단순히 단어를 많이 알고 이를 의사소통에 적절하게 사용하는 것뿐만 아니라 사물 또는 개념에 대한 인지능력이나 논리적 인식 능력이 발달했다는 것을 뜻한다. 그런 점에서 유의어 교육은 학습자로 하여금 어휘의 섬세한 의미 차이를 구별하고 같은 대상이라도 더욱 정밀하고 다채롭게 표현할 수 있도록 한다. 또한 어휘의 의미를 정확하게 분별할 수 있는 능력을 통해 학습자의 사고력과 창의성은 향상시킬 수 있다. 그리고 성인지적 어휘를 활용한 국어 교육 통해 학습자는 국어현상을 스스로 수집하고 비판적으로 평가하고 탐구하여, 학습자로 하여금 언어생활에 대한 올바른 가치관을 세울 수 있을 것이다.

Korean language education requires making learners to understand Korean language varies depending on sex, race, class, age and regions in order to get them creatively, correctly and effectively use the language in personal, social and academic life. Thus this study reads the signs of ‘male’ and ‘female’ embodied in literature and discusses the meaning and effect on educational perspective, with the purpose of expanding the perspective of vocabulary education. The study scrutinizes gender vocabulary mostly in adjectives among vocabulary speech. Since adjectives have predicate usage as well as definite usage, we can see a lot of declinable words combined with an adnominal form of endings modify indeclinable words in actual corpus. In this sense, the study classified gender vocabulary using compound word information after examining the gender of indeclinable words combined in the beginning or end of declinable words. It also divides the gender vocabulary into masculine words, feminine words and neutral words and devises a teaching method for learners to discern vocabulary with similar meanings. Full grasp of the meaning of vocabulary and sensible use are deeply related with learners’ language use and, furthermore, help learners to build creative and critical thinking. If thesaurus education expands to the overall area of language teaching, the learners will benefit from an opportunity to easily understand and analyze a new vocabulary and build more profound and correct language skills We can find the meaning of this study in its limitation of gender vocabulary among vast vocabulary and its integration with thesaurus education. Rich vocabulary represents not only knowing a lot of words and properly using them in communication, but also the development of cognition in objects or concepts or of logical recognition. In that sense, thesaurus education enables learners to tell the delicate difference in word meanings and to express even the same object in more detailed and variegated ways. Learners even improve their thinking skills and creativeness by learning an ability to precisely tell word meaning. They, in turn, collect, critically assess, and research Korean language phenomena through language education taking advantage of gender vocabulary. Learners get enabled to establish correct values about language life.
