A study on enhancing the interest and problem solving ability of mathematics based on the mathematical tools
Abstract
This study aimed to examine what effects the lessons based on mathematics tools have on the students' interest and problem solving ability. To examine the effects, this study selected subjects as follows.
<Ⅰ> How should we reorganize the content of the text according to the level of the students' math learning ability?
<Ⅱ> What effects do the lesson based on the mathematics tools have on the students' interest and problem solving ability?

For this study, 2 classes of 5th graders who go to B elementary school were chosen and divided into an applied class and a comparative class. The applied class were taught through the lesson plans based on the mathematics tools and reorganized worksheets, and the comparative class were taught through the regular lesson plans based on the text. After conducting the lessons, examinations were implemented to check out the students' interest level and problem solving ability in the procedure of before-exam, during-exam, and after-exam.

The result is as follows.
The level of interest of the applied class was higher than that of the comparative class. Also, the applied class's problem solving ability of numbers and calculation, diagram, and measurement parts was higher than that of the comparative class.
