With laboratory hydraulic model test and field survey , the result of the scouring protection characteristics of round type river protection block is as follows
Ratio of scouring depth yielding to depth ratio(depth/pier width) is increased according to velocity, but the increasing ratio of scouring depth slow down according to increasing ratio of depth ratio. The ratio of scouring depth also is increased according to Froude Number, but slow down if Froude Number is large than 1.
Tractive force of velocity of 4m/sec is about 0.37ton, and resistance force is about 0.9ton in the case of using the round type river protection block of 2 tons/each(diameter of 2m) with projection and it is found that the block can theoretically resist the velocity of 6m/s
It also found that block is needed to cover with small stones to protect river bed effectively
Comparing the results of laboratory model test and field survey, It is found that the round type river protection block has good applicability in the site for permanent river protection. Eventhough, It is inconvenient not to have modification and verification with observed flood volume and velocity.
