- Abstract
- This study is originated from knowing the reality in which the education for utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT), the new education method in the information-oriented society, is not being properly practiced despite the needs of the time. For this reason, the research is primarily recognizing the needs for the education for utilizing ICT, and based on this, reviewing the model of the plan for teaching and learning process utilizing materials of ICT. Moreover, the research is aiming to improve the quality of class by developing the plan for teaching and learning process utilizing materials of ICT among various models and the materials for utilizing various information and communication technologies.
In chapter II, we primarily reviewed the meaning and features of ICT. We defined the ICT and identified the reason why the education for utilizing ICT is necessary. Furthermore, we reviewed the necessity of education for ICT for the social studies division in the 7th Education Course. Finally, through the pre- research, we also reviewed the contents of education fro utilizing ICT in a number of literatures and made a step to demonstrate the necessity of the research.
In chapter III, we discussed developing the plan for teaching and learning process utilizing materials of ICT applied to social studies division. We basically proposed the overall process of designing teaching and learning process and reviewed how to apply it in the real classes. In addition, based on the necessity for the education for ICT reviewed in the previous chapter, we also reviewed the model of classes utilizing ICT used in social studies division. In short, we reviewed the features of each class model and developed the class materials using the real planfor teaching and learning for social studies and ICT.
Up to present, our school education system has not broken from the existing cramming method, the education method of Japanese Imperialist’s era because the conventional method is considered that it is the best way for preparing examinations for entrance. However, the most important thing is to exactly recognize the capacities needed by the informationoriented era and to make efforts to introduce the education methods to classes in order to make students possess the capacities. No one can negate that computers and internet possess a large portion of our lives with inseparability. Therefore, it may be the anachronism that the education and discussion for ICT are developed with the skeptical and negative view. We must develop the model of teaching and learning process relevant to the information- oriented era and the plan for teaching and learning process utilizing ICT showing the teaching methods of teachers.
