A Study on Improving the Educational Purpose of the School Excursion
Abstract
The school excursion is a key part of the school event activities among the various extra activities. It is the most important activity of the 7th School Curriculum because it is carried out on a large scale and it has the meaningful effects. Even though we are living in the information society, the school excursion gives us so many opportunities to have the real experiences that it is getting more and more important. However, it has presently become a one time dull event not to be able to satisfy the students, who are suffering the insufficient experiences. The present school excursion lacks the educational effects and the students just think it the formal sightseeing provided by school.
In this thesis, I researched all the courses of the school excursion and analyzed the numbers of the field trip places, the allotted hours of each program, the characteristic of visiting places, the preparation of the education programs, the ways of the actual practice and the educational effects. I also studied the evening activities of which the schedules are usually unsettled. To enliven the educational experiences instructively, I reconstructed the courses of the school excursion in relating them to the achievement evaluation. I suggested solutions to recover the educational responsibility of the school excursion by specializing each course of the field trip programs and encouraging teachers to focus on their own teaching programs.
