Abstract
Nowadays, the miniaturization of the AHU (Air Handling Unit) has become an actual need because of the restriction of the using space on the vessel, which has been filtering into people’s mind day by day thoughts. In modern ATU’s construction, in which the fan section is at the end part of the ship, it’s very difficult to select a suitable capacity of evaporator (Cooling Coil), because the fan motor emits heat. Actually, it is difficult to get the designed room because the heat productivity of the fan motor highly effects the room temperature. So the AHU structure has been changed as the fan section has been set before the cooling coil to get temperature values similar to the designed amount. Or, the capacity of the cooling coil has been reduced in order to get the purpose.
If the fan section has been settled before the cooling coil, several problems will appear. Large static pressure loss will occur after the fan, while the air is passing through the cooling coil, water elimination and some other parts. This will lead to air leak or cause noise, which should be well cared about. Or the cooling capacity will possibly be reduced if unsteady flow occurs.
Therefore, we studied the air guider in order to maintain equal air distribution after it passed the fan section. So, it is possible for the air to pass the cooling coil equally. In other cases, if the air cannot pass through the cooling coil equally, the cooling coil cannot reach its best performance because of those unequal loads on different parts. The air guider also gives an additional function as it can help to prevent damages to fan blade.
