Abstract
As demand for the usable dimensions of estate due to the resent industrial development and economic growth increases, a tendency to utilize soft ground at the coastal area having conditions of location is bad or dredged artificial ground has increased.
In enhancing this soft ground, consolidated settlement shows a considerable difference from any assumed designed value that laboratory test is applied and any measured value estimated during field construction. The expected value assumed by the consolidation theory is different from the estimated value in reality because the complexity of deformation characteristic that soil has, the inhomogeneity of the related foundation, the limited matter of consolidation theory and the condition of field construction were not reflected enough.
In this research, after supplying dredged clay and reclaiming the land from the public possessed water surface, we established the relation between time-settlement through field measurement in enhancing the weak foundation with PBD and preloading method to form a site to examine the difference between the expected value and surveyed value through the comparison and analysis between time-settlement volume and designed settlement. Also, we selected a hyperbolic method as the fittest expectable settlement for the field to examine the degree of consolidation after completing the loading embankment.
Besides, to analyze any removal period of the loaded embankment, we selected a field CR value which is the estimated value at the field and then decided the final settlement under the condition of present load. From the result, residual settlement volume was within 3.0 cm and degree of consolidation was 99 % ~ 100 %. Consequently, it's possible to remove the loaded embankment at the examined section.
