Abstract
이 연구는 사회과에서 NIE를 활용하여 자기주도적 학습을 돕는 '시사발표'와 포트폴리오를 통하여 자기주도적 학습이 이루어질 수 있는지를 현장 수업 경험을 토대로 분석하고자 한다. 또한 NIE수업 전후에 흥미?태도 검사를 실시하여 학생들의 NIE수업에 대한 흥미와 태도의 변화를 알아보고, NIE수업에 대한 호응도를 통하여 NIE수업에 대한 학생들의 반응을 알아보았다.
The ultimate purpose of social studies education is to 'develop democratic citizens to their fullest potential'. The civil qualification to lead the social change in modern society is the critical thinking power, creative thinking power and self-directed learning ability which are essential to find knowledge concerning social phenomena and to solve the problems, utilizing various information.
For this, self-directed learning, which respects the ability and interest of learners and he learners participate actively in the selection of studying contents or studying progress, is required. Teaching and studying of this way is not the cramming explanation by teacher, but a way to construct the student's own knowledge on the basis of his experience.
This research is to analyze the possibility that 'presentation of current events' which helps self-directed learning and portfolio could realize the self-directed learning utilizing NIE(Newspaper In Edudation) in social studies, based on the actual experience at the class. And before and after the NIE class, the test of interest and attitude was conducted to know the change of interest and attitude of students, and the reaction of students to the NIE class was also investigated through the feedback-levels of students.
For the above research, NIE classes were conducted in 6 classes of 3rd grade in a middle school in Busan and the research method at the actual class, evaluating through the result at the actual classes was carried out.
The following conclusion was obtained on the basis of the result of this research.
Firstly, NIE class utilizing the newspaper is more effective than the teaching way of textbook-centered lecture.
Secondly, portforlios, in which students can arrange their various interests and feelings, could awake the interest and understanding of current social issues and be an opportunity to set their points of view.
Thirdly, through NIE classes, the interest of students in social studies was heightened and worked as a motive to have the better attitude at class with the interest in society.
Fourthly, the result of feedback-levels of students at NIE class shows they responded positively to the items of memory, concentration, understanding, participation, continuance of the class, fun, interest in current issues, studying habit, and found NIE class effective.
In the result, it is obvious that the education utilizing newspaper has effect on the self-directed learning, but as it is not the method which can have effect applying all students, the research must continue to search methods which can attract the students in the field of education, who don't have the active attitude for learning. Recently, students could have feeling of rejection against the newspaper which is the letter-media, as they are accustomed to image-media. Before the conduction of NIE, it is essential to instruct students for sympathizing the utility of the newspaper.
