A comparative study of the history of mathematics in textbooks of a middle school
Abstract
Most student regard mathematics as only a hard, important subject for examination. To stimulate students' interest and motivation in learning mathematics, introduction and utilization of the mathematical history is very important, and lots of research on that should be done. this effort can bring students' more meaningful and faithful learning in mathematics. So this study is purposed to analyze and arrange the mathematical history of each chapter of 'Mathematics 8-to ga'. In addition to that, anecdotes of historical topic are introduced.
Through out this paper we would like to suggest a way to help students reduce an aversion to mathematics, and to stimulate students' interest and excitement to the mathematics class. And I hope students can reconsider mathematical ideas, obtain mathematical thought and knowledge, and eventually be confident, high achievers.
