A Survey on Management of Musculoskeletal Disease in Small Sized Manufactures in Busan Area

Abstract

Musculoskeletal diseases have been known as industrial diseases increasing frequency in the interior of a country. It is a fact that musculoskeletal diseases in the manufacturing industry make up the majority of all musculoskeletal disease patients. To prevent musculoskeletal diseases, it is necessary to conduct studies about quantity and collect facts about the musculoskeletal diseases, and also to investigate about recognition and the actual management conditions that should be preferably be conducted. This study examines the actual conditions for musculoskeletal diseases caused by repetitive or continuous working at manufactures in small businesses around Busan. There were 129 sample of manufacturers in small business used for this study. The summary of results of this analysis are as follows: First, the results for musculoskeletal prevention programs have shown that the meaning on a business scale is different, then evaluations is general level value because means is over 3. Second, for training times related to position, the average training time of management supervisor is 6.60 hours, the average training time for a workers is 5.25 hours, and the average training time for new employee is 3.71 hours. Then two items in associated with musculoskeletal diseases of all items(9 items) for training contents is many replies. in the recognition differency analysis for musculoskeletal diseases prevention management system associated with occurring condition of musculoskeletal diseases, four items were statistically significant.

The results of this study are as follows:. First, musculoskeletal prevention programs at manufactures in small businesses around Busan are being carried out effectively, and management supervisor and business proprietors have for a strong interest in musculoskeletal prevention programs. Supervisors or proprietors will form appropriate prevention programs fitting the specific character of individual businesses and will rely on worker cooperation to achieve real effects. Second, continuing and organizing training education is necessary because a lack of recognition in workers or management may cause many misunderstandings about detailed fact or methods of improvement related to musculoskeletal diseases. Then, it is necessary not only to implement fragmented training education but also to execute technical education. Third, to prevent musculoskeletal diseases, it is necessary for education and cooperation between workers and corporations, because musculoskeletal diseases prevention is difficult without the management efforts of workers. In sum, if workers join musculoskeletal diseases prevention programs and observe safety standards, forcing related to musculoskeletal diseases will reduce.
