A Study on the Stiffness of Twist Coil Spring
Abstract
This paper is a study of the twist coil spring for the stiffness. Generally, one of the coil spring is fixed and the other is given by some torsion which makes the elastic bend deformation angle. So, it will be stored higher energy.
The stiffness of the twist coil spring influences on the design of the coil spring. Therefore, in this study, first we analyzed the stiffness of the spring among some papers. And second, we determined the proper stiffness of coil spring. And then we manufactured many kinds of the coil spring. Finally, I tested the stiffness of the coil spring and compared with the experimental results.
Excellent agreements between theoretical results and the experimental results were shown, thereby it was ascertained that a highly reliable mathematical methods for the stiffness of the twist coil spring was established.
