Study on the Performance of Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Using Inner Fin Tube
Abstract
One of the indirect cooling methods of a marine AHU's condenser area is to use cooling water manufactured by the cooling water generator.
In this study, among the 4 enhanced heat exchange tubes, the one which have the biggest heat transfer coefficient will be chosen to manufacture a shell and tube heat exchanger. These enhanced heat exchanger tubes are Inner fin tube, Corrugated tube, Inner ridged tube and Turbo-C tube.
As result of this study, The inner fin tube has the biggest heat transfer coefficient. Thus, it will be used to manufacture the Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger. In order to supply the required cooling water for indirect cooling method, a shell and tube heat exchanger was designed. The inlet temperature and outlet temperature of enhanced heat exchange tube in the shell and tube heat exchanger are 12℃ and 6℃, respectively. The heat transfer ability of the Shell-and-tube heat exchanger is able to be known through measuring the heat exchanger's temperature values and pressure values under different cooling water mass flow rates.
