호주 북서대륙붕 배로우 소분지의 구조와 탄성파 층서

Abstract

호주 북서대륙붕 배로우 소분지 남부지역의 3-D 탄성파 자료와 시추공 물리검층 자료로부터 이 지역의 분지 전체 퇴적층을 구성하고 있는 4 개의 지구조층(열개전, 열개, 열개후, 침강)이 부정합면으로 나누어지는 9 개의 탄성파층으로 구성되었다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 9 개의 탄성파층 중에서 상부의 6 개층은 이 지역의 대표적인 포매이션(딩고상부, 듀퓨이, 배로우, 무더롱, 기얼리,투롱가)들과 대비된다. 이 층들을 구성하는 퇴적물은 분지의 남부로부터 기원한 것으로 생각된다. 또한 연구지역에서는 배로우그룹을 가로지르는 웨스트페터 단층의 일부가 관찰된다.

Analysis of 3-D seismic and logging-while-drilling (LWD) data from the Kathleen area in the southern Barrow Sub-basin, North West Shelf, Australia, reveals that four tectonostratigrahic units (prerift, synrift, postrift, and subsidence) comprising the basin fill consist of nine sequences bounded by unconformities. The upper six sequences correspond to the major formations (Upper Dingo, Dupuy, Barrow Group, Muderong Shale, Gearle Siltstone, and Toolonga Calcilutite, from oldest to youngest) of the area. Sediments in the area appear to have been sourced mainly from the south. A small part of the West Pepper Fault is observed in the Barrow Group.
