Study on the Cooling Efficiency of Air-Conditioning System Using Solar Collector
Abstract
At this study, the process of cooling obtained by a solar air conditioning system was analyzed. The solar air conditioning system consists of four main parts, which were connected with solar collector, storage tank, regenerator, and dehumidifier. On this research, COP(coefficient of performance) concerning to a dehumidifier's cooing was conducted based on the cooling effect throughout the actual system experiment. In the dehumidifier which plays an important role out of the system, the figure of COP depends usually on the real area contacted by two substances, absorbent and air, in the packed layer. For this goal, a different array of the packing material being filled into the packed layer was devised and actually settled in it uniformly. This allows contacting area to be more large and it dedicates to more enlarged contacting area compared to conventional system. Of course, this apparatus feature was also applied to the regenerator which is a component being able to give the absorbent evaporating potential ability.
As a result, the COP of cooling effect provided by an actual solar air conditioning system reached around 1.07 from the base of electricity consumption at this experiment. Furthermore the difference of temperature between inlet and outlet of air direction at the packed layer was 9℃ at largest, even though it was almost 6℃ at the past-model-base test. It is a clear evidence that the array of packing material in the system affects to the COP of cooling and heating effects and it contributes to making a total system compact.
