Collection Characteristics of Electrostatic Multi-staged Impaction System
Abstract
The main object of this study is to investigate the collection characteristics of a multi-staged impaction system with an electrostatic precipitator experimentally. The experiment is carried out to analyze the characteristics of pressure drop and collection efficiency for the present system with the experimental parameters such as applied voltage, shape of discharge electrode, inlet velocity, stage number and inlet porous plate, etc.. The experimental results showed that the collection efficiency is increased by rising the number of stage or inlet velocity or applied voltage. The collection efficiency is increased 97.4 to 99.0% at 5 stage without inlet porous plate, when inlet velocity was risen from 2.07 to 3.46 m/s. It is more increase 98.4 to 99.6% with wire discharge electrode(30 kV/0.11 mA). The collection efficiency is 99.9% at 5 stage with inlet porous plate(40 kV/0.27 mA), when inlet velocity was 3.46 m/s. The collection efficiency is increased to 0.9% after adding inlet porous plate because of the electric force and the increase of impaction effect. Additionally the pressure drop of the whole system was 148 mmH2O at 5 stage with inlet porous plate, when inlet velocity was 3.46 m/s.
