A comparative analysis of equation and inequality unit in the 10th grade mathematics textbooks based on the 2009 revised curriculum
Abstract
In this thesis we deal with a comparative analysis of unit of equations and inequalities of 10th grade mathematics textbooks based on the revised curriculum in 2009. It may be useful for understanding of main issues of the new curriculum.
Research is carried out based on nine math textbooks published in 2014 and inspected by the Korean educational ministry.
Firstly, we compare structure of the textbooks in following respects;
1. proportion of the equation of inequality unit with respect of the whole units
2. features and configurations
Secondly, we deal with comparison of introduction of learning goals and usages of mathematical terms.
Finally, we analyze the textbooks in respect of mathematical creativity.
Since this research is not based on rigorous experiments, it seems impractical for application in the real field of education. However, we hope that it is somewhat helpful for selection of newly published math textbooks through our comparison of them.
