- Abstract
- These days, because of global environmental problems like depletion of the ozone layer and global warming, the interest in technical development using renewable energy is being concentrated. Especially, although OTEC(Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) has low system efficiency. But as clean energy resources, It has a merit of gaining deep seawater and surface seawater from ocean, so the related researches are carried out globally. However, the domestic research of OTEC power system until now is inadequate, especially the research for increasing the OTEC power system efficiency is extremely limited. and OTEC power system using various working fluids also nonexistent. Therefore, in this study, high efficiency OTEC system is simulated using HYSYS program, and then the basic design data are supplied through this study. For research about increasing the efficiency of OTEC power system, the confirmation and review for applicability of OTEC using various working fluids, the analysis of design and performance of OTEC power system using various working fluids, the suggestion of the methods for efficiency enhancement of OTEC power system using various working fluids were proceeded.
The main results were summarized as follows. This paper is to select the optimized working fluid and to provide the most proper design data for OTEC system. R32/R152a(87:13), R32/R134a(70:30) and R717 which show high system efficiency, seem to be proper working fluids for OTEC system. Also, in case of system efficiency, the cycle applying R32/R152a(87:13) and R32/R134a(70:30) are similar to R717 respectively, however, the system using R717 is advantageous since the system applying R717 can minimize the size of the heat exchanger as APRe shows.
