형용사 'clear'의 명사 연어 분석

- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to find out the practical usage of the adjective ‘clear’ for the improvement of English-Korean dictionary. Most of the English-Korean dictionaries have the different definitions for the main meaning of the adjective ‘clear’, so the Korean learners who study English may be confused about what the main meaning is. The corpus-based English-English dictionaries, on the other hand, have the same definitions for each main meaning, ‘easy to understand’.
This study classifies 100 noun collocations of the adjective ‘clear’ which are chosen from BYU/COCA(the Corpus of Comtemporary American English) program by comparing and analyzing their collocations through BYU/COCA and Cocoma Sejong Malmungchi system.
The findings of this study are as follows: First, it turns out that the adjective ‘clear’ has the 11 Korean meanings as a result of analyzing 78 noun collocations of the adjective ‘clear’ from BYU/COCA program. Second, the main meaning of the adjective ‘clear’ is defined as ‘easy to understand’ like the main meanings of the corpus-based English-English dictionaries. Third, an authentic English-Korean dictionary has been arranged as a part of the improvement of the existing English-Korean dictionary.
These results suggest that the existing English-Korean dictionaries need to be improved with more objective data based on the corpus program. Furthermore, EFL(English as a Foreign Language) learners need to study English vocabulary, which focuses on lexical chunks, not on individual words.
The pedagogical implication of this study is that Korean learners who want to have a high level of English proficiency should enhance collocational competence by understanding and learning the collocations that co-occur with high frequency.

- 본 연구의 구성은 다음과 같다. 2장에서는 앞서 언급한 연어와 연어 학습에 대한 이론적인 배경을 제시한 후, 형용사 ‘clear’의 사전적 정의를 몇몇 국내외 사전을 통하여 살펴본다. 3장에서는 COCA 분석을 기반으로 형용사 ‘clear’의 명사 연어의 종류 및 빈도를 제시하고 사용 빈도순으로 명사 연어의 우리말 의미를 각각 알아본 후, 그 분석 결과를 제시한다. 4장에서는 형용사 ‘clear’에 대해 본론에서 조사 분석한 결과를 토대로 영한사전을 개선하기 위한 형용사 ‘clear’의 사전적 정의를 예문과 함께 제시하고, 형용사 ‘clear’에 관한 여러 논의를 요약 및 정리하고 그 의의를 제시한다.
