Effect of Carbon Nanotube on the Mechanical Properties of the Formed EVA
Abstract
This study has been investigated the effect of MWCNT (multi-wall carbon nanotube) on the mechanical properties of EVA( ethylene vinyl acetate) resin. The formed EVA resin was modified by adding of the different weight percentage(0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.50 and 1.00wt.%) of MWCNT. In this study, tensile test, tear test and compression test were carried out to investigate the mechanical properties of the CNT/the formed EVA nanocomposites. The results clearly showed that the strength and modulus of the CNT/the formed EVA nanocomposites were bigger than the formed EVA and were different according to the weight percentage of MWCNT. However, the elongation of the CNT/the formed EVA nanocomposites were smaller than the formed EVA. As the size of cell is smaller, the strength and modulus of the CNT/the formed EVA nanocomposites showed higher. And also, it was found that the more homogeneous, the more mechanical properties in the nanocomposites. The MWCNT in the formed EVA affected strongly to the mechanical properties and cell shape of the nanocomposites in this study.
