- Abstract
- The present study was conducted to develop the practical diet in juvenile whiteleg shrimp, Litopenaeus vannamei reared in the bioflocs system. In the first experiment, the results demonstrated that, when L. vannamei juveniles were reared in the bioflocs-based tanks, dietary protein level could be reduced up to 6.6% (from 40% to 33.4%) and requirement could be higher than 33.4% but less than 35%. In the second experiment, the optimum dietary lipid requirement in juvenile whiteleg shrimp was higher than 5.6% but less than 6.0% by broken-line and ANOVA test based on weight gain, respectively. In the third experiment, the optimum protein to energy ratio was higher than 17.1 mg protein/kJ but less than 19.9 mg protein/kJ in juvenile whiteleg shrimp based on growth performance by using the ANOVA test. In the fourth experiment, soybean meal could replace up to 33% fish meal in juvenile whiteleg shrimp diets.
