Abstract

This study sought to understand and analyze the internal conflict experiences caused by acquired disabilities of spinal cord disabled people whose sense of self-identification as disabled people changed from non-disabled to disabled people due to life events. To achieve this goal, the study puzzle consists of how the internal conflict experience due to acquired disabilities is formed in the story of the study participants' lives, and what is the meaning of the internal conflict experience. Therefore, three people who became spinal cord disabled due to accidents or diseases after adulthood were selected as participants in the study and conducted three interviews. Based on the collected data, the meaning of the study was analyzed. According to the analysis of the topic, the meaning of the internal conflict experience caused by acquired disabilities found in the stories of the lives of these research participants was derived by , , and . interpreted the life-long experience of non-disabled research participants until they became acquired disabled as "physical paralysis" and "psychological paralysis." is the result of analyzing the story of internal conflicts experienced in everyday life after becoming an acquired spinal cord disabled. The internal conflict occurred when the identity of non-disabled people as acquired disabled people changed, and this experience was a process of forming a new self in the lives of research participants. means accepting a new identity as an acquired disabled person and living again by discovering new life goals. As a follow-up study of this study, it will be meaningful to expand the understanding of conflicts among spinal cord disabled people by studying various types of conflicts in addition to internal conflicts caused by acquired disorders. It would also be meaningful to conduct a qualitative study of what the experience of internal conflict in acceptance of acquired disabilities in adolescence is like in terms of self-identity.
