Alternative Title
The study of optimum arrange design for rigging
Abstract
Unlike any other leisure boat, a sailing yacht is propelled by the wind power which is controlled by the crews. Therefore, the ergonomic design for the equipment that crew has to operate for sailing might be very important. However, it is difficult to find the design rule and regulation for equipment arrangement of sailing yacht based on ergonomic factors.
In this paper, the guideline for winch height and horizontal distance for sailing yacht is studied from an ergonomic design point of view. For simulation, Korean standard 20s male is selected as a human model for a Grinder. The physical load is analyzed when he is operating the winch by using 3D human simulation. The low back load to Grinder shows the highest value when working at 90 and 180 degrees. According to the results of low back load to Grinder with the variation of winch height, it is suggested the winch height which is from deck bottom to the top of winch should be over than 40% of human model's height. Also according to the results of low back load with the variation of horizontal distance from body that is located in winch, it is suggested the guideline for horizontal distance should be less than 15% of human model's height.
