- Generation of Free Residual Chlorine and Nitrogen Removal Characteristics in Aquaculture by using Electrolysis
- Abstract
- This study was applied electrolysis process for the removal of ammonia in recirculating aquaculture system(RSM) water. Anode electrode plates was used one sheet of Ti/Ir electrode plate, cathode electrode plates are two sheets consists of platinum iridium on titanium and experiments were performed while controlling the current density by using the DC Power Supply. Using the Free residual chlorine generated at the anode electrode plates, and analyzed for ammonia removal efficiency. It was generated in the electrolytic oxidation reactor using an electrolyzer and Free residual chlorine is diluted to different concentrations were produced, ammonia of 2 mg/L have analyzed the ammonia removal efficiency by reaction with synthetic seawater, which is dissolved.
As an argument of the experimental conditions using the RSD(Response surface design), at least 2 W at the maximum 10 W(current density in terms of 0.015 A/㎠∼0.061 A/㎠) of Watt and, at least up to 5 min of reaction time after the Free residual chlorine at 1 min analyzed the weight of the product.
Free residual chlorine generation result of the analysis of a power 6 W, when the reaction time is 3 min, the Free residual chlorine of about 51.5 mg/L was produced. It is the Watt is 10 W, when the reaction time is 3 min, the Free residual chlorine of about 117 mg/L was produced. To remove ammonia of 2 mg/L in water of about 99.9 % or more, it was confirmed that it is require approximately 10 mg/L or more Free residual chlorine and also, If the Free residual chlorine 6 mg/L was allowed to 1 min reaction, it was found that available about 80 % of the ammonia removal.
