Effect of Scrap Content on the Hot Tearing Property and Tensile Property of AC2BS Alloy
Abstract
The effects of scrap content on the hot tearing property and tensile property were investigated in AC2BS alloy. The hot tearing strength were found to be 16.4㎏f/㎠, 15.2㎏f/㎠, 14.9㎏f/㎠ and 13.3㎏f/㎠, respectively under the constant solid fraction was 29.3% when the scrap content of specimen were 0%, 20%, 35% and 50%. In the same way, the tensile strength of as-cast condition were 24.5㎏f/㎟, 23.7㎏f/㎟, 17.3㎏f/㎟ and 16.0㎏f/㎟, respectively and the corresponding tensile strength of T6 heat treatment condition were 27.2㎏f/㎟, 26.7㎏f/㎟, 24.2㎏f/㎟ and 23.9㎏f/㎟. The hot tearing strength and tensile strength decreased as the scrap content of specimen increased.
Decrease of these strengths in assumed to be caused by the presence of the oxide films which acts as the crack initiation site of the specimens.
