- Abstract
- As a kind of mature ship form, planing hull has been widely used in military and civilian areas. A lot of researches for an optimizing ship form which could have a better resistance and hydrodynamic performance have been presented. In this paper the effect of deadrise angle variation on planing hull is studied. In this research the running attitude is estimated by Tsagi method and calm water resistance are simulated by Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) in Star-CCM+. First the fundamental principle of planing hull and deadrise angle is introduced. To validate the CFD and Tsagi method nine experiment results of planing hull series 62 4667-1 from 4.87 knot to 12.82 knot are selected and compared. After that four new planing hull forms are made by changing deadrise angle from mideship to stern slightly and keep the other parameters of planing hull constant as much as possible. Several simulations of the new hull modeling are performed with the same method (Tsagi and CFD method). Through the simulation results, the best hull form is found and the effect of deadrise angle variation is analyzed.
