편마비 환자의 근감소증 예방 가정기반 운동프로그램의 개발 및 효과
- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to develop and verify the effectiveness of the home-based exercise program for prevention of sarcopenia in hemiplegic patients.
The home-based exercise program for prevention of sarcopenia in hemiplegic patients was based on literature review and analysis on demand through focus group interview. The program components include pre-exercise text notification, exercise diary writing, and family exercise support.
The study design was a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected December 20, 2020 to April 19, 2021, and the experimental group of this study comprised 26 patients at the B rehabilitation welfare center located in G city, and the control group was 26 at the U rehabilitation hospital located in U city.
Data analysis was performed using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 Program, and the preliminary homogeneity test was analyzed by independent t-test, χ2-test, or Fisher's exact test, Mann-Whitney U test. The hypothesis test of this study was analyzed by ANCOVA, which compared the scores after the pre-scores of each dependent variable were treated as covariates and controlled. Cronbach's alpha was used for the reliability test.
The results of the hypothesis testing was as follows:
The first hypothesis, "The experimental group to which the home-based exercise program was applied will increase muscle mass compared to the control group that was not applied." was significantly increased in the muscle mass of the experimental group (F=8.26, p=.006). The second hypothesis, "The experimental group applied with the home-based exercise program will increase muscle strength compared to the control group not applied." was significantly increased in the muscle strength of the experimental group (F=7.99, p=.007). The third hypothesis, "The experimental group to which the home-based exercise program was applied will improve daily life movements than the control group to which it was not applied." was rejected due to lack of significant difference in the scores of daily living behavior (F=0.33, p=.565). The fourth hypothesis, "The experimental group to which the home-based exercise program was applied will improve a sense of balance than the control group to which it was not applied." was rejected due to lack of significant difference in the scores of sense of balance (F=0.04, p=.841). The fifth hypothesis, "The experimental group to which the home-based exercise program was applied will improve the dynamic posture control ability than the control group to which it was not applied." was rejected due to lack of significant difference in the scores of dynamic postural control (F=3.48, p=.068). The sixth hypothesis, "The experimental group to which the home-based exercise program was applied will improve the quality of life than the control group to which it was not applied." was significantly increased in the quality of life of the experimental group (F=12.19, p=.001).
In conclusion, the home-based exercise program was effective in improving muscle mass, strength, and quality of life in hemiplegic patients. Therefore, it is hoped that the home-based exercise program was to be helpful prevention of sarcopenia in hemiplegic patients.
