- Abstract
- An apartment house is considered to be Korea's most typical type of housing, and about 70% of the Korean people live in apartment houses. Also with the improvement of living standards and development in terms of urbanization and industrialization, noise has emerged as a problem commonly found in the apartment houses. In this regard, the government formulated various policies and legal standards regarding the noise. However, it seems to be difficult to resolve the noise problem completely, given that the characteristics of the bottom structure in the apartment house, economic conditions and levels of subjective needs from residents. Since the damage degree and response to the noise that occurs in the apartment house varies depending on the subjective judgement of individuals, it is not easy to present the objective data relating to the noise problem. However, the person concerned can file a complaint through verification of damages caused by the noise by accurately measuring the amount of noise with a measuring instrument and using the measured result values. It is common for general households to measure the noise using smartphone apps without spending a lot of time and costs. However, since the existing apps designed to measure the noise adopt the method of measuring the noise in real time or in an isolated way, the level of accuracy is low. And they do not provide users with the noise direction and distance information. In this regard, this paper proposes “The Noise Measurement System for mobile platform-based” equipped with noise direction and distance information that can be utilized as additional materials in filing complaints regarding the noise in the living environment. The proposed system is based on the Android OS, a mobile platform, and uses hardware that can be accessible in kernel to measure the noise and estimate the direction. Through a micro sensor, it measures the noise three times for a certain period of time and uses a method for estimating the location of the noise that occurs based on the location of a user by storing the location information at the time of the measurement. Also it estimates the location where the noise occurs with the values of the measured noise and provides the direction information of the noise to a user based on the current location using a GPS sensor. The user can check the information in text and images.
