어휘 공백에 따른 영어 동사의 한국어 번역양상

Abstract

This study is to discuss the translation patterns of Korean from English verb in the viewpoint of lexical gap. A single English verb is translated into a combination of noun and verb in Korean due to the lexical absence of target language. For the understanding of translation patterns, English verbs in two English literary works that are translated into noun-verb combination in Korean edition are extracted and analyzed. The result includes semantic characteristics of English verbs which is categorized into five groups, and three of them are related to body movement. Korean translation is divided into two types: noun-centered translation and verb-centered translation.
