영한사전 개선을 위한 영어동사 'handle'의 명사연어 분석

Abstract

Abstract We use this word as a noun, a intransitive verb and a transitive verb. We know that a handle is a lever. But that is a noun. I will analyse the word 'handle' as a transitive verb. The word 'handle' has many meanings. Koreans have known this word since middle school. But we don't know main meaning of this word exactly. The reason is most of English-Korean dictionaries have different definitions of main meanings. A large number of learners use English-Korean dictionaries as English-study materials. So they need universal main meaning. And they need efficient arrangement of meanings. So the purpose of this study is for the improvement of English-Korean dictionary from the data obtained by analyzing their objective noun collocations from the COCA and three kinds of English-Korean dictionaries and English dictionaries. In this study, I extract 100 objective noun collocations of transitive verb 'handle' from COCA, organize and analyze them by FREQ from COCA. and this thesis shows 5 Korean meanings of English verb 'handle'. I hope this study is helpful for EFL learners in Korea.
