The Effect of Comprehensive Artistic Activities on Young Children's Character Development
Abstract
The purpose of research was to investigate for effects that integrated artistic activities has an effect on character development of child by development and application of integrated artistic activities over two territories of art suitable for characteristic and developmental stage of child aged 5. The targets of this research are 20 child aged 5 attending A daycare center and 24 child aged 5 attending B daycare center located in P metropolis, total 44. The 24 child aged 5 implement integrated artistic activities as experiment group, and the 20 child aged 5 implement Nuri process as comparative group. We use evaluated and revised tools of Kim(2014) after adapt Character Assessment for School Age Children(CACSAC) developed by Grier(2012) for measuring character of child as tools for study measurement. For developing related programs for realization of research purpose, the research is on the basis of development method for traditional two models, and prepares procedures of 6 stages with reference to program development method of Kim Jin Hwa(2001), necessary activity in program development of Hwang(2005), development model of Park(1999), and progresses specific developmental activities by each stages. As a research result, firstly, there are meaningful differences in character development of child between the experiment group implemented integrated artistic activities and the comparative group non-implemented integrated artistic activities. The following research results have been judged because of arrangement to be integrated organically without independence or separation of each types of art, and composition of stories contacted between composition of integrated artistic activities and consciousness of child as a center.
Secondly, for the child cultivating human nature, the integrated art activity doesn’t have to run parallel in order. It demands on the unity level such as a single line of thread and other kind thread creates a fabric. For that, the educational imagination or the artistic experience is the strong foundation. Therefore, the need of imagination or art of teachers are stated.
Thirdly, it emphasizes the importance and necessity of the integrated art activity for the educational imagination and artistic experience as the one approach to develop the cultivating human nature of a child which leads a new approach of the education of teachers.
Hence, this research could be a good example of the cultivating human nature of a child.
