Abstract
IT asset management system refers to a system providing total management base for companies from acquisition of IT asset to preservation and disposal. IT asset management system has been developed mostly for large public organizations, SI providers or banks as it is being developed in connection with ITSM and IT governance strategy. These systems were not suitable for small companies. In the case where small companies implement it, they experience difficulties in managing IT assets due to shortage in human resources. The purpose of this thesis is to solve such issues for small companies by developing an ITIL-based IT asset management
automation system. Combining the component management process provided by the ITIL and the asset
management concept, the system has been simplified by eliminating unnecessary elements and referring to necessary processes for the design and systemization of the system. The system proposed in this study consists of IT asset management program that performs the interface role and Agent program for data collection. The data collected from the Agent program is saved in CMDB and becomes one asset through the merging process with data entered in the IT asset management program. This system aimed to solve the human resource shortage issue of small companies by increasing the work efficiency and redundant tasks of users through real-time, automated
collection of legacy system information and target information. With regards to the data matching issue, data reliability was increased through audit function.
