Abstract
Currently, although the demand of ocean leisure in our country is increasing rapidly, it is only developing ocean industry and there is no sufficient safety measures for disasters. Therefore, minor and major accidents related to ocean activity are increasing every year. In fact, with the increasing amount of leisure activity, the number of casualty in ocean is 151 in 2015 and the number has increased rapidly compared to that of 2011. Rather than voluntarily responding to the accidents, citizens are only giving up or refraining from doing the activity. Furthermore, their recognition toward the necessary safety measures seemed to be low. Thus, it is necessary to mention the requirement of ocean safety education, and by analyzing the attitude and recognition from the safety and swimming education experience of children, a method to achieve positive safety recognition and attitude are to be searched, thereby providing basic information and standard for fundamental education of ocean safety and understanding of ocean with increasing interest of people in our country.
The target of our research was toward middle and high school students living in Pusan from March to April in 2015, and in order to understand general traits of targets, frequency analysis was done, also in order to analyze the differences among traits of attitude and recognition toward ocean safety, behavioral factor in attitude, education and preliminary measure of ocean safety toward general traits of targets, cross analysis process was done, and it was verified with x² . The result of the research is to improve the level of attitude and recognition toward ocean safety of our citizens. The research is valuable in a way that it can prove the necessity of education of swimming and ocean safety during childhood. The fact that preliminary education done during childhood can influence their siblings so that the education should be selected as a national policy and required to be developed.
