Abstract
The heating behavior of nanoscopic and microscopic Fe, Fe3O4, Ni particles-embedded thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) adhesive film under induction heating was investigated. Different particle sizes and content of ferromagnetic metal particle were applied to TPU with varying film thicknesses and output power of the induction heater. From the results, heat generation of ferromagnetic particle-embedded TPU films increases in particle content, TPU film thickness, and output power. The heat generation of the Fe particle-embedded TPU adhesive films was increases with particle size. On the other hand the heat generation of Fe3O4 particle-embedded TPU adhesive films was decreases with particle size. And the heat generation of Ni particle-embedded TPU adhesive films was in the order of 70nm > 1μm > 70μm > 20μm in terms of particle size. These results can be explained by increase of eddy current loss and decrease of hysteresis loss with increases in particle size.
