- Abstract
- In this study, IsoTrussⓇ grid pattern is applied to the perimeter structure of a high-rise building. The main objective of this study is to examine the feasibility of the grid pattern as a structural system in high-rise building and to derive cross sectional area of member in preliminary stage of structural design. To evaluate the structural efficiency of newly proposed structural system its structural performance is compared with diagrid system.
In the derivation of required area of cross section limit for maximum lateral displacement is applied. Structural characteristics of proposed system is described for various parameters. Contribution of perimeter frame to lateral loading was similar to that of diagrid system. However, distribution of axial strength ratio which is defined as the ratio of required to provided column strength was scattered more widely than that of diagrid system. Based on maximum lateral displacement of a building the optimum angle of inclined exterior columns was about 60°. In the efficiency evaluation which is done using maximum lateral displacement and steel amount for exterior columns the proposed system was more efficient than diagrid system by approximately 25.3%.
