An Experimental Study on the Machining characteristics of SM45C in CNC Turning
Abstract
This paper is an experimental study for planned to test whether the impact on th surface roughness of th condition of the tool. In this experiment was to determine the surface roughness and the resulting shape of the chip according to the shape of the tool.
First, the cutting condition was set the three conditions of the feed-rate at 0.05, 0.1, 0.2mm/rev. and Depth of cut was selected under the condition of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0mm 3 branches. Second, the condition of the tool has a total of three tool-holders, and each of the two kinds of inserts were the experiment. Measurement was measured surftest surface roughness. an electron microscope to see in detail the shape of the chip shape was confirmed. As a result, in proportion to the feed-rate it could be found to increase the data in any environment. but also it decreases with increasing depth of cut, and the case of the irregular phenomenon was confirmed to also increase. each tool was calculated as the average of all the data values. Nose radius value '0.4' in 'PCLNR' average roughness of tool has the most good and came out of the roughness average of the 'PDJNR' highest tool. and Nose radius value '0.8' has the roughness or the average of the 'PDJNR' tool best of all, came the roughness average of the 'SVJBR' highest tool. In general, the nose radius value '0.8' represents a graph of the almost similar to the width of the roughness is small. Nose radius value '0.4' in 'PCLNR → SVJBR → PDJNR' net was rapidly increased as the depth of cut and feed rate increases.
It was the offal could grasp the larger the entering angle as the nose radius value during decrease SM45C cutting surface roughness is good, could prove the fact that the surface roughness is dependent on the shape of the tool.
