Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find a better sign system of general hospitals focusing on sign design considering the convenience of elderly people based on the medical situation that the aging society and the elderly patients increase. And this study proposes a general hospital sign system considering the visual characteristics of the elderly people, such as a directional sign, identification sign, orientational sign, coloring, and installation location. If you do not have enough information about the location of the general hospital, you will be strayed because of difficulties in getting directions. Especially, outpatients are more stressed due to the unfamiliar hospital environment than hospitalized patients. For this reason, the sign system, which provides the route information so that the patient can easily find the diagnostic room where they want to visit, is a key design execution method of visual information expression provided to the outpatient. In large public facilities such as general hospitals, a differentiated sign system plan is needed to help elderly people whose vision is getting weaker by the color vision errors caused by presbyopia, yellowed-eye-sight . In the analysis of the visual change according to the aging of elderly people, the color change was large in the case of the blue-yellow, but the contrast was not significantly changed in the readability. In other words, it can be seen that factors affecting color change such as yellowed-eye-sight in the visual characteristics of elderly people do not affect the readability of sign system.
