A Study on the Safety of Construction Works by Analyzing the Construction Status Accident Situation
Abstract
Constructors submit a safety management plan and approval before beginning a construction project to ensure safety during construction and to conduct facility safety management throughout each construction stage. Regarding safety management, must be confirmed via autonomous and regular safety inspections, accurate safety , and an initial inspection prior to construction commencement. Regardless of the safety management procedures established for each stage of construction, safety-related accidents continue to occur. Accidents at construction sites not only result in loss of lives and economic damage, but also lead to decreased reliability of construction projects from the standpoint of citizens. To prevent safety-related accidents, such as collapse of facilities, the laws and regulations on construction site safety must be complied with and safety management must be improved by applying target-facility safety management.
In this paper, the working conditions at bridge construction sites and examples of safety-related accidents are analyzed to propose improvement methods for safety management. The safety management improvement methods are presented in detail to help site managers easily prepare and apply appropriate safety management planning methods.
Regarding safety during construction, accident prevention measures are presented through examples of bridges under construction. It is impractical to apply generalized accident prevention measures to each site because the conditions and amount of participating technicians vary from one site to another. Prevention of safety-related accidents requires business cooperation between the client, construction company, and construction technicians. Considering these prerequisites, safe working methods founded on collaboration for accident prevention are presented.
In order to prevent safety-related accidents, the client, CEO of the construction company, construction project management engineers, construction site technicians, and workers participating in the construction work must acknowledge the possibilities of safety-related accidents. applying the improvement measures for safety management proposed in this study will greatly contribute to the prevention of safety-related accidents during construction.
