이주노동자의 모국문화유지행동이 직무태도에 미치는 영향

Abstract
Immigrant workers play an important role in the Korean labor market and the number of immigrant workers is increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to identify factors affecting job attitudes which directly affect the performance of immigrant workers at workplace.
The purpose of this study is to identify the mechanisms that the behavior of maintaining native culture of immigrant labor affect their job attitudes by examining the mediating effects of psychological well – being.
The behavior of maintaining native culture in this study included media activities that are related to native culture by phone or social network sites, taking native foods, relations with native friend, native religious activities. Job attitudes included job satisfaction and job involvement.
The data for an empirical study is obtained by using questionnaire survey on a sample of 250 immigrant Vietnamese in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do. And a structural equation analysis was conducted to examine the research hypothesis.
Findings of this study are as follows.
First, among the behavior of maintaining native culture’s dimensions, media activities that are related to native culture, relations with native friend and native religious activities had significant positive effects on psychological well-being. Whereas, taking native foods had significant negative effect on psychological well-being.
Second, psychological well-being had significant positive effect on job satisfaction and job involvement.
Finally, there are the mediating effects of psychological well-being on the relationship between maintaining native culture and job attitudes. The behavior of maintaining native culture had significant positive effect on job satisfaction and job involvement indirectly via mechanisms such as the spillover effect of psychological well-being. The more immigrant workers do the behavior of maintaining native culture, the higher psychological well-being is and it improves their job satisfaction and involvement.
Based on findings of the study, this study suggested managerial implications for manager in organizations that hire immigrant workers.
Lastly, limitations and directions for future study were suggested.
