A Study on the Computer Simulation for the Ink Fragmentation in the Wiping Gravure Cells
Abstract
In the wiping gravure printing, the amount of ink from cells has a great effect on the qualities of final printed products. And the printability of final products is determined by each kinds of variables. Ink transfer process is not verified scientifically because the size of cells in wiping gravure are too small and the printing speed is too fast to observe. In this research, using the simulation method, the ink filling phenomena in the cells and the mechanism were analyzed. Peckage software Polyflow was used to solve this fluid dynamics in the cells for considering of non Newtonian flow. The results of simulation, it defined the distribution of pressure, speed, viscosity, shear rate during the wiping gravure printing. It is fined out the difficulties and characteristics according to the shape of cell types. Through this study, the condition of gravure printing is depending on the print condition and characteristic of cells.
