A Study on Vibration Characteristics of Welded Thin Plate
Abstract
Vibration analysis is an essential factor to be considered to prevent fatigue due to resonance in moving vehicle such as automobiles and ships as well as in general structures.
On the other hand, construction and assembly of general structures throughout the industry depend on welding. Especially, Welding became the most commonly technique because the development of welding processes and structures have become more complex and larger in the naval architecture and marine engineering field. Thus, welding is used widely across industry but it is difficult to find researches what are the effects of welding to natural frequency of structures. So it is necessary to study on the effect of welding on natural frequencies of structures.
Therefore, it is necessary to measure the natural frequency of the welded thin plate by experiment and to identify the qualitative trend of how the welding affects the natural frequency of thin plate do. So in this study, carry out the experiment and finite element analysis on welded plate. And then using the both results, study on the qualitative trends about changes of the natural frequency of the welded plate.
