- Abstract
- In this study, the optimum conditions were investigated for microalgae, Heamatococcus sp. and Scenedesmus obliquus. In the case of Heamatococcus sp., PG medium was suitable. In the selection of optimized carbon source, glucose was appropriate and concentration was 10 g/L. The optimum nitrogen source and concentration were KNO3 and 1.9 g/L. When Heamatococcus sp. was cultured under optimal conditions, dry cell weight was increased about 31 times by 5.58 g/L after 14 days of inoculation with 0.18 g/L of initial inoculation amount. The chlorophyll produced was 172.16 mg/L and the carotenoid was 42.33 mg/L. Heamatococcus sp., xylose and sucrose are more suitable carbon sources than glucose for the formation of chlorophyll and carotenoid. NaNO3 is considered to be suitable for the production of chlorophyll and carotenoid as a nitrogen source. The optimal medium for S. obliquus was BG11 medium with 10 g/L glucose. When it exceeded 30 g/L, substrate inhibition occurred and growth was delayed. The optimum nitrogen source was 1.5 g/L KNO3. When cultured under optimal conditions, dry cell weight was increased about 43 times by 6.65 g/L after 14 days of inoculation with 0.15 g/L of initial inoculation amount. At this time, chlorophyll was 125.42 mg/L and carotenoid was 30.15 mg/L.
