Abstract
Praseodymium doped gadolinium oxide material is useful material in optical device, contrast agent and biomedicine due to their paramagnetic, strong red emission and chemical stability. Therefore, it can be applied to the both magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and X-ray computed tomography (CT) as contrast agent and optical devices. In this research, red emitting Gd2O3:Pr3+ nano sphere phosphors were successfully fabricated by using the facile co-precipitation method with adjusting the reaction time from 1 to 4 h. The change of reaction time influences the morphology and size of Gd2O3:Pr3+ was analyzed. The XRD patterns of Gd2O3:Pr3+ appeared the cubic structure. The samples are exhibited the homogeneous Gd2O3:Pr3+ spheres with different sizes from 110 to 250 nm through the FE-SEM images. It affects the luminescence intensity and MR imaging signal intensity. Therefore, it can be selectively applied for bi-functional contrast agents prepared by simple process.
