A Priority Setting for Advanced Transportation Technology Investment to Improve Transportation Problems : Focused on the Busan City
Abstract
Behind the development of technology and industry, there are some serious transportation problems caused by the congestion of cities, limited road networks, and etc. by rapid urbanization. The Busan Metropolitan City, which is notorious as a 'traffic congestion city', should overcome transportation problems through technical approaches to make the leap to smart city with the fourth industrial revolution. The aim of this study is to investigate priority for advanced transportation technology investment considering both policy consumer’s and provider’s perspectives. Criteria and technologies are based on the literature review. Data is collected through questionnaires from transportation policy providers and consumers. The overall results were that ‘publicness’ and ‘traffic congestion mitigation technologies’ had the highest priority. In addition, the difference between policy consumer’s and provider’s was analyzed. As a result, there exists a priority difference between the two groups, but two technologies are duplicated in the top three. These results will serve as a useful reference for decision making in the areas of transport policy and related areas.
