To overcome job search stress, it is required that effective job preparation behavior and social support to undergraduate students. This research is about the effect of job preparation behavior and social support on job search stress.
For this study, total 245 questionnaires were collected from 14 univerities in Busan, except college of education, industry and Cyber University. The data was statistically analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. The result is as below.
First, the analysis of job preparation behavior including general characters indicates that female students are more active to fine a job. Job preparation behavior is prone to increase depending on increment of grade. When students want to fine a job in a professional position, they are prone to use unofficial job search and show high job preparation effort. When students want to become general affairs/general office worker, they are prone to do active job search and have high level of job preparation strength. In either case of hoping to become professional or general affairs/general office worker, students show
high job preparation behavior. Second, male students get more information for job search with social support. In addition, the society gives more supports 4th graders than 3rd graders. Third, female students feel more stress to find a job compared to male students. 4th graders get more stress from finding a job than 3rd graders. It is proven with statistical significance that students having wishful jobs are under more stress to find a job. Fourth, in the relation among job preparation behavior, social support and job search stress, job preparation behavior shows positive correlation with social support. Moreover, job preparation behavior also correlates with job search stress positively. Fifth, in investigating effect of job search behavior and social support on job search stress of undergraduate students, there is a positive correlation between job search stress and effort into job preparation as well as active job search that are sub-classes of job preparation behavior. Material support, a sub-class of social support, is connected to job search stress with positive correlation.
This research indicates that the efforts of university on job preparation behavior and social support are required to reduce job search stress of undergraduate students.
