Abstract
This study is experimentally investigated for relationship between mechanical properties and damping capacity of high manganese austenitic stainless steel with two phase mixture structure of deformation induced martensite and reversed austenite.
The results obtained from this study are as follows.
Reversed austenite with an ultra-fine grain size of less than 0.3㎛ was obtained by reversion treatment.
Two phase structure of deformation induced martensite and reversed austenite was obtained by annealing treatment at a range of 500~700℃ and various times in cold rolled high manganess austenitic stainless steel.
With an increase of reversion temperature, hardness and strength increasing, elongation and damping capacity increased.
Damping capacity decreased rapidly to proportional relationship with an increasing the hardness and strength, damping capacity increased rapidly and then decreased slowly with an increasing elongation.
Hardness, strength, elongation and damping capacity of high manganese austenitic stainless steel with two phase of deformation induced martensite and reversed austenite was influenced strongly by reversed austenite.
